Key Dates for Voting

Stay informed and don’t miss your chance to participate in the election. Here are the most important deadlines and early voting opportunities.

Registering to Vote

Advance Registration Deadline:
🕔 April 22 at 6:00 p.m. (local time)

  • Register online at elections.ca.
  • If you're registered at the correct address, you’ll receive a voter information card in the mail.
  • You can also register in person at your polling station when you go to vote.

Voting at an Elections Canada Office

Deadline to Vote at an Elections Canada Office:
🕔 April 22 at 6:00 p.m. (local time)

  • Vote early at any Elections Canada office across the country.
  • This is a great option if you're away on election day or prefer to avoid crowds.

Voting on Campus

Campus Voting Dates & Hours:
🗓 April 13–16

  • Sunday, April 13: 12:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
  • Monday to Wednesday (April 14–16): 9:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.
  • Campus voting is open to students, staff, and anyone who finds it more convenient.

Voting by Special Ballot

Apply to Vote by Mail or Special Ballot:
🕔 Deadline to apply: April 22 at 6:00 p.m. (local time)

  • Vote by mail or at any Elections Canada office.
  • Ballot must arrive in Ottawa by: 🕕 Monday, April 28 at 6:00 p.m. (Eastern time)
  • Note: Once you apply and are accepted to vote by special ballot, this is the only way you can vote — you cannot vote at advance polls or on election day.

Requesting Assistance at the Polls

Deadline to Request Language or Accessibility Support:
🕔 April 22 at 6:00 p.m. (local time)

Contact your local Elections Canada office for:

  • Sign language interpretation
  • Language support
  • Voting assistance for accessibility needs

For Canadians Living Abroad

Deadline for Completed Ballot to Arrive:
🕕 Monday, April 28 at 6:00 p.m. (Eastern time)

  • Apply to vote by special ballot at any time.
  • Make sure your completed ballot arrives in Ottawa by the deadline.

Flexible Advance Polls & Additional Service Points

Elections Canada has begun confirming advance polls and voting kiosks in remote, isolated, low-density, and Indigenous communities.

If your community isn’t listed but you believe it should be, contact your local returning officer to ask about local voting options.

  • Visit www.elections.ca
  • Enter your postal code in the My Voter Information section
  • Click: “Where is my local Elections Canada office?”
    You’ll find contact info for your returning officer, including name, address, phone number, and office hours.
